Are you in a book club? Does your book club actually discuss the book? Mine does…most of the time! Don’t get me wrong, there is wine and appetizers and talking about kids, the weather, vacations, dating, etc. What I love about my book club is the diverse group of women, who have one thing important in common. We love to read.

You may have some extra time over Spring Break to read. Oh, the joys of “extra time” in life. You want that time to count! So here are my suggestions on some must-reads:

  1. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (Or her new one, The Girl You Left Behind) – Easy read, you’ll fall in love with Lou immediately. Grab the Kleenex.
  2. Where’d You Go Bernadette? By Maria Semple – Pretty silly, I enjoyed Bernadette’s craziness.
  3. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot – You’ll be astonished at this true story about Henrietta’s cells being taken without her knowledge and still live on today.
  4. Bossypants by Tina Fey – I read this, but heard the audio book is even better since it’s read by Tina herself.
  5. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford – Set in Seattle in the 1940s in Japantown. I learned about a volatile time in our history, while seeing hope in the characters.
  6. A Homemade Life: Stories and Recipes from My Kitchen Table by Molly Wizenberg – Anyone who enjoys cooking will love this book and it will make you want to give your family members an extra hug tonight.
  7. The Art of Fielding by Chad Harbach – This book isn’t just about baseball. I enjoyed the stories of each character and how their actions affected each other in this small town.
  8. night circus bookThe Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern – Escape into the life of the circus with twists and turns.
  9. Rules of Civility by Amor Towles – Transport to New York in the 1930s and struggle along with the working girl Katey.
  10. Unbroken: A World War II Book of Survival, Resilience and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand – I read this on an overseas flight and the timed sailed by. Read this moving story before the movie comes out, you won’t regret it.

Happy Reading!
